News – Changeling, City of Lost Souls and Thread of Death Covers!

As the title of this post says, I am showing off some covers today.  There were quite a few released this week but these are the three that caught my attention the most.  Mostly because these are books/e-novella I’m really looking forward to reading.

The first is the cover for the fifth book in Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series.  The MI series is one of the few YA series I still follow religiously.  I love it and I totally have an inappropriate crush on Jace.  This newest cover is my favorite yet.

City of Lost Souls is due in stores May 8th 2012.

Next up is the cover for the second installment in Kelly Meding’s Meta Wars series.  Now I want to show you something.  Look at the new cover:

Now look at the cover for the first book, Trance:

Notice something?  Yup.  It’s not the same chick!  Do you know why?  Because the second book is not told from Trance’s point-of-view but this other chick!  How cool is that for a series?!  Now who is this mystery lady?  You meet her in Trance and nope I am not saying who it is…but if you read Trance you already know.  And if you haven’t you should because it’s super cool!  (See what I did there?  Super cool because the books are about super heroes.  I’m so clever…)

Changeling will be available June 26th 2012.

Finally, Jennifer Estep showed off the cover and the blurb for the upcoming e-novella in her Elemental Assassin series.  Thread of Death takes place right after Spider’s Revenge.  (Now just a heads up that the blurb contains spoilers to Spider’s Revenge)  Love this cover!

Gin Blanco, aka the assassin the Spider, might have finally killed her nemesis, Mab Monroe, but that doesn’t mean that it’s smooth sailing. Gin goes to Mab’s funeral to say her goodbyes and runs into some of Ashland’s most notorious underworld power players, including Jonah McAllister and Phillip Kincaid. McAllister wants her dead, and Kincaid has his own murky motives when it comes to the Spider, and Gin once again finds herself fighting for her life. Only this time, she might wind up in the cemetery right next to Mab …

Thread of Death will be released as an eBook only on January 31st 2012 and it will only be $1.99.  Fans of the series will want to pick this up.

Happy Weekend!

  1. Kelly Meding says:

Thanks for the mention, Julie! Your write-up is awesome. The cat will be out of the bag about the protagonist of Changeling eventually, but the good news is all of our favorite heroes from Trance are still there kicking butt! 🙂

  2. Great picks Julie, I am looking forward to the next Jennifer Estep book.

  3. I can’t wait to read Thread of Death and just $1.99 YAY!! My wallet is happy dancing. I also love the cover but it reminds me of another cover, I’m trying to remember which one but the alzheimer is not helping. 🙁
I haven’t read Mortal Instruments series nor Meta Wars series, I know I have to, but…

  4. The MI covers are always brilliant & this one is no exception. Makes me even more excited for its release!

I’ve enjoy the covers for the Elemental Assassin series — they are well done & intriguing. Gorgeous actually! I wish I could read them, but unfortunately the repetition in them has completely turned me off and I stopped after the 3rd. But I do love the covers!

  5. Oops, I forgot one–I haven’t read Trance yet, but its in my TBR pile– I’m a huge fan of the Dreg City series (can’t wait for #4 later this month) & I think the cover for Trance is so pretty. Changeling has a darker, grittier feel. Excited to read them!

  6. Kelly – Anytime! I’m glad everyone will still be there even though the story is told from a different point of view. I really do think that is so cool. 🙂

aurian – It’s a nice surprise and it should be good. 🙂

BookaholicCat – The MI books were the first books I read after Twilight and LOVED them. I am very curious to see what you think.

Michele – I love love love the Dreg books too. And the repetition in the EA books gets to me too but I can ignore it because the characters are just so amazing. 🙂

  7. Julie– RE: the EA books & also her new series: I wish I could ignore the repetition, because I agree– the characters are amazing! And the plot & storylines are fantastic– But I just can’t get past the repetition. I feel like the author thinks we are stupid and has to keep telling us the same thing over & over because we can’t remember it ourselves & it grates on my nerves so badly I can’t enjoy the story. It’s a shame, because they do have brilliant characters & plot.
