Question – What Did You Read or Plan To Read During Your Last/Next Vacation?

As you may already know, I am going on vacation soon.  While on vacation, I am hoping to read.  Shocking, I know.  I don’t know how much reading I will be able to do but I am hoping to finish at least one book, maybe two.  Okay three.

For sure I will be reading In a Fix by Linda Grimes.  I am very curious about this one and looking forward to cracking it open.  This book will be the book I read at the airport and on the plane.

I am also hoping to read Biting Cold by Chloe Neill, the sixth book in her Chicagoland Vampires series.  Unfortunately, this is a ‘last chance book’ for me.  I, like many, was not a fan of what Chloe did a couple of books back in her series.  The last book was okay for me but again, I didn’t adore the direction it was headed.  I am hoping Biting Cold will bring back the Chicagoland Vampires love for me because the first three books were just incredible.  So I am looking forward to reading it…and not at the same time.  Although I will say that Chloe has balls to do what she did, to stick to her vision even though she knew it would totally piss people off and turn some readers away.  That is one brave chick.

As for the third book, I believe I will read Christi Snow’s book, Operation: Endgame.  I will be interviewing her in September so I may just get a jump on that.  I have been enjoying the teasers that Christi has posted on her blog and can’t wait to finally dive into the entire book.

So there you have it.  That is what I am planning on reading while I’m on vacation.  How about you?  Do you have some vacation time coming up?  What are you planning on reading?  Or has your vacation time already pass?  If so, what did you read while you were on vacation?  Was it any good?

  1. I’m about to head out on vacation too! Right now I’m in the middle of Virna de Paul’s Shades of Temptation, so I need to finish that. I’m also hoping to read Lauren Dane’s Chaos Burning.
    See you at AAD!

  2. On my last vacation, I read:

    Magic Dreams by Ilona Andrews
    Vicious Deep by Zoraida Cordova
Even White Trash Zombies Get The Blues by Diana Rowland
    Bound by Erica O’Rourke
Sins of the Angels by Linda Poitevin
    Transcendence by CJ Omololu
    Tempest’s Fury by Nicole Peeler
Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown

  3. It passed 🙁 But I read ebooks, lots of them. I borrowed the library e-reader the first day and that is all I read since I do not really want to take the library e-reader to work or anywhere else

  4. haha – Sadly my vacation time is already past. I took a week off for my birthday at the start of this month, and took a two pronged vacation consisting of a fishing trip to Mexico as well as comic-con in San Diego. I had high hopes of reading Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, Keeping Secret by Sierra Dean, and Tricked by Kevin Hearne. However I was foiled at every turn *gasp,* and managed to read very little. I ended up getting terribly sea sick on my ocean adventure, and then terribly busy at comic-con. No complaints about the con though. I ended up making it to all the panels I was interested in (including some of my favorite authors past and present) and had some fantastic fun.

As for the quality of the fiction, Shadow and Bone had an amazing story and fantastic world building, but a weak heroine. She grew a lot through the story, but I had a hard time respecting her. And I’m currently reading Keeping Secret, which is very good, although I have to fight the urge to strangle Lucas for his totalitarianism, high handedness, and stupid strategic decisions. *grumbles*

I’m soooo excited about the Biting Cold release too. Fortunately, I’m not at the “last chance” stage with Chloe’s work. I wasn’t a huge fan of the last two books, but I love Ethan and Merit enough to want to know how their story ends.

Have a TON of fun at your con, Julie! I can’t wait to hear about your experiences when you return.

  5. My vacation is soon so I plan on reading Biting Cold, Time Untime, Stygian’s Honor, Haven.

  6. Funny I started in a fix yesterday but I’ll finish it today I think, love it for now. Like you I”m on holidays but I have so many books I need to read. I don’t know yet the ones I’ll read first but well I need to finish In a fix and Redemption by Sasannah Sandlin. I haven’t read the chicagoland books yet but I have the three first ones, I’ll see I think how it is.
