Review: The Christmas Fantasy by KT Grant
December 12 2011
Yummy Man – Jackson Montgomery
Kick Ass Chick – Mandy Lockeheart
From Goodreads -
On a mission to lose her virginity before her thirtieth birthday on Christmas Day, Mandy Lockeheart plans to seduce the only man she’s ever loved; her brother’s best friend, firefighter Jackson Montgomery. With the sexy new body she’s worked hard to earn, she’s certain she can convince him to fulfill her fantasies.
When Mandy comes to him with her sexy proposal, Jackson can’t refuse her adorable seduction. Unfortunately, Mandy’s brother doesn’t want anyone playing around with his baby sister. Jackson must choose between respecting his friend’s wishes and making love to his perfect Christmas present.
Between Mandy’s occasionally poor body image and Jackson’s honor, the lovers must fight to realize their Christmas Fantasy.
When I was thinking about what Christmas themed books I wanted to read this year, I immediately thought of KT Grant’s The Christmas Fantasy. Released couple of years ago, it’s the story of Mandy and her long-time friend Jackson. Mandy will be turning thirty on Christmas day and her one wish/fantasy is to lose her virginity to Jack, a sexy firefighter who wears glasses when his contacts bother him. C’mon people! A yummy fireman who wears glasses?! Yes please!
Mandy was adorable. Willing to do what she needs to do to get what she wants without going over board or into the ‘slutty’ category. I found she was really well written and I found myself wanting good things for her.
Jackson was fiiiiine. I loved the scene where he started seeing Mandy differently. Too cute. He was so sweet and charming, I really enjoyed reading him. I wish Jackson had been a little blunter when Mandy approached him with her concerns about her appearance and how, even though she has been working very hard to become healthier, she may gain some weight back someday. I would have felt better (and I’m sure Mandy would have too) if he said a flat out ‘no’ to her concern as opposed to dancing around it. I know I know…he’s a man. But still, there are something we need spelled out and Mandy’s concern was one of those times.
Jessica is Mandy’s friend. She was a little much for me at times. I did like how she took to bull by the horns and went after who what she wanted, but mostly I wanted to sit on her and have her relax. And Chris, Mandy’s brother…what a jerk! That is all I’m going to say about him but I know, if you read this book, you will completely agree with me.
I have read a few of KT’s contemporary romance books and at the heart of them is one running theme: being happy with your appearance and health over skinny. Mandy and Jess have worked very hard to reach a weight they are happy with. They are not stick skinny but feel fantastic and that’s what matters to them. That is a very important message to share and I think KT does it well.
The Christmas Fantasy by KT Grant is a cute Christmas time read if you are in the mood for something quick to read to lift your spirits and put a smile on your face.
