Pretty Covers

Today I wanted to share with you the covers of some upcoming releases I’m really looking forward to.

First up, Kinked, the sixth book in Thea Harrison’s Elder Races series.  I am very curious about this one…and I’ll tell you why in a sec.  First of all, the cover and the blurb:

Two opponents must confront the cause of their obsessive fury in the latest Novel of the Elder Races…

As a harpy, Sentinel Aryal is accustomed to dealing with hate, but Sentinel Quentin Caeravorn manages to inspire in her a burning ire unlike anything she’s ever known. Aryal believes the new Sentinel to be a criminal, and vows to take him out as soon as the opportunity arises. But the harpy’s incessant wrath has pushed Quentin to the limit, and forces him to make a deadly vow of his own.

To put an end to the conflict, Dragos, Lord of the Wyr, sends them on a reconnaissance mission to the Elven land of Numenlaur. Forced to work together, Aryal and Quentin’s mutual antagonism escalates. Each fight draws forth more passion—culminating in an explosively sexual confrontation. But when their quest reveals real danger, Aryal and Quentin must resolve their differences in ways beyond the physical, before the entire Wyr is threatened.

As you just read, this is Aryal and Quentin’s book.  I am intrigued by them.  I really enjoyed their banter/chemistry in the last book.  What makes me curious about this book is well, Aryal is not a very likable person.  I like her spunk but even then, I want to smack her a few times in each book.  I’m curious to see how Thea will make us feel as though she deserves a HEA.  But if anyone can do it, it’s Thea.  Kinked releases November 5th 2013.

Next is Grimoire of the Lamb.  This is book #0.4 in Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles series.  Here’s what Kevin said about it:

“It’s set four years before the events of HOUNDED so there’s no Granuaile, but we get plenty of Atticus and Oberon as they get lured to Egypt by a priest of the crocodile god, Sobek!”
-Kevin Hearne, December 6th 2012.

Here is the cover and the blurb:

When he’s not vanquishing villainous gods or dodging demons, two-thousand-year-old Druid Atticus O’Sullivan can be found behind the counter of Third Eye Books and Herbs in modern-day Tempe, Arizona, literally minding his own business. But when an evil sorcerer—and amateur shoplifter—snatches an ancient Egyptian tome of black magic, The Grimoire of the Lamb, Atticus is not sheepish about pursuing him to the ends of the earth . . . or at least to the Land of the Pharaohs.
Unfortunately, Atticus already has enemies in Egypt—including cat goddess Bast, who wants her own book of mischief back from the Druid. In the streets of Cairo, she sends a feline phalanx after Atticus and his Irish wolfhound, Oberon. With fur still flying, Atticus must locate the sorcerer’s secret lair—where he will face killer crocodiles, spooky sarcophagi, and an ancient evil Egyptian who’s determined to order the sacrificial lamb special tonight.

I really enjoyed Kevin’s last novella for his series, Two Ravens and One Crow.  It showed me that Kevin writes strong short stories and I can’t wait to read this one as I adore this series.  Grimoire of the Lamb is a digital release and will be available for download May 7th 2013.

Finally, Nalini Singh revealed the cover for her upcoming Guild Hunter book last week.  Archangel’s Legion brings us back to Raphael and Elena.  I’m glad it’s back to them and as long as Elena sometimes calls Raphael by his name instead of always ‘archangel’ I’ll stay happy.  Cover and blurb:

Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.

Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.

Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael’s Tower under siege by enemy archangels.

Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York…and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same…

The writing in the Guild Hunte series is so melodic and fluid, I always look forward to a new installment.  Archangel’s Legion is due on shelves October 29th 2013.

So there you have it.  Are you looking forward to these titles too?

  1. Kinked cover is ok, but Grimoire of the Lamb and Archangel’s Legion are awesome. Love them.

  2. I love the cover for Grimoire of the Lamb but the other two are kind of meh. The Kinked cover looks a lot like the ones for the e-novellas that Harrison has put out (I think through Samhain?) and not so much like her other ones, so it feels a bit mismatched to me. And I generally like the Archangel’s Legion cover but her boobs are super distracting. 😉

  3. The Singh one is just sooo awesome

  4. I love all of the covers. I was curious why Thea put both characters on Kinked sinced that is not her usual norm. Then, I heard that Quentin was on the cover this time because it was so much his book as it was Aryal’s. Kevin Hearne always has awesome covers for his Iron Druid series. One can never have too much Atticus! I like the new Nalini Singh cover, but sometimes I really wish she would put Raphael on the cover with Elena JUST ONCE!

  5. Bookaholic Cat – 🙂

Jenn – I love the Archangel cover but I agree with you about the boobs. As beautiful as the cover is, the boobs are a bit…off 😉

blodeuedd – That artist is so amaing!

Iswari – I am very curious about Kinked. I can’t wait to see how Thea makes Aryal and Quentin work. And no, you can never have too much Atticus 😉

  6. Love the covers of Singh’s books and the books themselves. You can judge these books by their covers.
