My Most Favorite Reads of 2013

We interrupt my usual Tuesday review to bring you this special post.  (My review for Sandy William’s The Sharpest Blade will be up tomorrow :))

My most favorite reads of 2013!!!  *engages fireworks*

Has it really been one whole year since I wrote a post like this one?  Amazing how quickly a year goes by.  But what a year it was!  Some AMAZING books were released this year and I only had the chance to read a small number of them.

This year I managed to read only 98 books.  I know!  I was hoping for more but…what can you do?  98 is still a very good number, right?  I did manage to pick 10 books that I thought deserved to be mentioned as the best of the year for me.  I also have a handful honorable mentions and a couple I think you should all read too.

Okay, so without further ado, here they are…  My mostest favorite reads of 2013 starting with my most favorite.

Honorable mentions –

Books I discovered this year that you all really must check out –

Book that has officially become my go-to book when I need a quick heart-swelling-pick-me-up (a.k.a. book I’ve re-read the most this year)

So there you have it.  My most favorite books that I read in 2013.  Do some of these books appear on your lists too?

  1. Love the list 😀 Yup the new Kate is on my list too

  2. Great list…

The half I’ve read I wholeheartedly agree with, the others that aren’t already on my TBR list need to be.

Having read 349 books this year, my top 10 list would need to be more of a top 50, but the last 100 pages of Magic Rises is easily my favorite reading of the year.

Finally started Rinda Elliot’s books yesterday… so fun/funny… reminds me of the ensemble cast of Chicagoland Vampires.

  3. Northwoman says:

Yay! I agree with with the ones you have which I have read. And Magic Rises is #1 for me, also.

As you know, I’ve got more contemporary romance on my list this year. Rumor Has It and Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis; Truly, Making It Last, Along Came Trouble by Ruthie Knox, and everything by Mary Ann Rivers – The Story Guy and Snowfall.

I’m horrified that I didn’t include Frost Burned. I have to check and see what happened to that one. I love all Patricia Briggs books.

Well, I’m forgetting some others here since I’m still sleeping but I have to add the ones I haven’t read yet to my list.

  4. I’m included on a list with Anne Bishop, Patricia Briggs, and Ilona Andrews? ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!!!

  5. Wow. Thank you so much for picking Dweller on the Threshold and Blood of an Ancient! I’m with ML Brennan-very happy to be included in this list. 🙂

  6. Readsalot81 says:

Excellent choices Julie! Ilona Andrews and Jenn Bennett made my favorites list as well 🙂

  7. We sure share a similar taste in paranormal romance / urban fantasy Julie. YA won’t be on my list, but Written in Red is my absolute favourite. I have read it 6 times.

  8. Some amazing UF there that I totally agree with, Jenn Bennett has to top my year I think and for my own personal list I would include Faith Hunter’s Blood Trade, Amanda Carlsons Jessica McClain books and a couple of lesser known authors that blew me away, Elizabeth Hunter and Sharon Hannaford. It was definitely a bumper year and I am definitely looking forward to 2014!

  9. Oh, and I see Written in Red on everyone’s best of list. I must put it on my TBR pile, have to see if it’s in the library though, its 3 times more expensive than any other kindle book in the UK this year, including all the top names.

  10. wonderful! I love your choices and it’s almost the same as mine even if not Charming.

  11. Loved your list, and I’m saving this for when I start reading bunches of UF again. Loved that Secret Mcqueen was on there as well as Acheron. Loved that book

  12. Looks like a great list. Kate is definitely on mine as well!
