From Goodreads –
You reap what you sow…

Saying Nate Grimm has a dark past is an understatement. Fortunately, no one’s bothered to look too closely at the Fairytale Management Authority’s lead detective and part-time Reaper. And that’s the way Nate wants to keep it. For after centuries of torment and loneliness, he’s finally found happiness with the hot and hard-charging love of his life, Tess “Red” Little.

Of course, his love for Tess is the reason there’s a posse of Reaper judges after him, led by a sadistic bastard acquainted with Nate from once upon a time. Now, Tess will pay the price for Nate’s transgressions unless Nate severs his ties to the transplanted Tales–and Tess–forever. His enemy has the advantage in speed, malice and brutality. But the Reapers have underestimated the depth of Nate’s love and devotion. And the fury of his wrath. . .

For those of you who have read this series, especially the first book Red, I will get right to the point:  Read.  This.  Novella.

For those who require a bit more info, here you go.

Grimm Consequences is part of Kate SeRine’s Transplanted Tales series.  It is placed right after the first book.  I don’t think you necessarily have to have read all of the other books in the series to get something out of this one but I feel you definitely should read Red, the first book.  I loved that book.  So inventive and incredibly kick ass!

My initial thought once I finished Grimm Consequences was “Wow”.  That’s it.  Wow.  But it was a ‘wow’ filled with as much awe as I could muster.  This was an absolutely amazing novella.  The pace was perfect, twists and turns everywhere and even the character development was incredible.  And that is saying something considering this is a novella that focuses on two characters who have already had their stories told in full with Red.

Or so we thought.

I was amazed by how much we learn about Nate.  His point of view fit this story perfectly.  I liked him after finishing Red (and even more after reading books two and three in the series) but now, after reading this novella, I absolutely adore him.  His story is interesting and… he’s so hot!  How much he cares for Tess… *sigh*  Kate does a great job interpreting the depth of his feelings and just his character overall.

I mentioned the pace.  It really is wonderful.  Non-stop, many times I had to remind myself that everything would be okay because this is book #1.5 and that I have already read #2 and #3 so obviously everything would be fine.  But still, at times, it was hard to believe because my heart was in my throat and I felt as though it would never get out.  And how everything ties together, all the new and ‘old’ characters, is perfect.  Kate is awesome, plain and simple.

This is a short and sweet review because other than ‘this is amazing’ and ‘Nate is yum!’ and ‘Tess is awesome’ and ‘read this book!’ there isn’t much left to say.  Kate’s Transplanted Tales is one of my favorite series.  The writing is top notch and the world is incredibly exciting.  Grimm Consequences just proves that Kate is an incredibly talented author and that this series is one everyone has to read.
