My Life’s Quirks – Goodreads Recommendations = O-o Sometimes
Goodreads has undergone a few changes recently-ish. One of those changes (and yes, this happened a while ago but I just noticed recently) is that books are recommended to you on your home page. Handy tool that…if it made sense. I am not saying that Goodreads gets it wrong all the time. In fact, they are usually pretty bang on! But once in a while, my “Recommendations” shelf is so crazy, I just have to giggle.
This is actually the book that made me first notice the recommendations on the home page:
Yes, you are understanding completely. This book was right there, staring at me, in the Recommendations box on my home page. The ratings are solid with a 4.11 star rating from over 2,000 reviewers but…why would they think of me for this book? They base their recommendations on what you read or want to read and even with that, I still don’t get it.
This is another one that made me giggle:
Again, great ratings but it sounds so…heavy! Why would Goodreads think this is a book I would enjoy? Who knows, I just might, but it’s not like other books I’ve read.
The best one has to be this next one:
O-o *hearing crickets* Why would this be recommended to me?!?!
Again, don’t get me wrong. Most of the books that are suggested are along these lines…
Goodreads recommendations = O-o sometimes. Just another one of my life’s quirks.
