Coming Soon – The Hollows by Kim Harrison Read-A-Long!

Hollows ReadALong Banner

Last week, I read the first book in Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series. (You can read my review of Dead Witch Walking here.) I have had friends tell me they loved this series for YEARS. So finally, I am started on it.

thewitchwithnonameNow, the thirteenth and final book, A Witch with No Name is coming out September 9, 2014. Since I have 11 more books to read in the next four months, I thought it might be cool to do a read-a-long.

That’s about 3 books a month, but I could throw in some of the short stories , too. There are folks who like to reread a favorite series when the next release is coming. And this way, you all could read and enjoy with me, right? But it is my first time, I have not read any of the books previously.

I’ll be doing roughly one book a week, with a posting on Wednesday most weeks. I can’t commit to doing a review every week, but as a minimum, I will ask questions I want to know after reading the book and make some observations. I also have some ideas for some fun and games as we go along.

Here’s our planned schedule:
May 14 – Dead Witch Walking, book 1
May 21 – The Good, the Bad and the Undead, book 2
May 28 – Every Which Way but Dead, book 3
June 11 – A Fistful of Charms, book 4
June 18 – For a Few Demons More, book 5
June 25 – The Outlaw Demon Wails, book 6
July 9 – White Witch, Black Curse, book 7
July 23 – Black Magic Sanction, book 8
July 30 – Pale Demon, book 9
August 6 – A Perfect Blood, book 10
August 20 – Ever After, book 11
August 27 – The Undead Pool, book 12

September 9 – release day review, hopefully, for A Witch with No Name, book 13.

So – here’s your to-do list:
1. Find your copies of these books, borrow them from a friend or the library or buy them.
2. Read Book 1, Dead Witch Walking by May 14th.
3. Make a list of a favorite quote or two as you read the book.
4. Let me know if you would like to do a guest review of one of the books.
5. Comment here telling me that you’re interested in doing the read-along with me.
a. Tell me if you have read them before
b. If you haven’t read the book before, make a list of questions you have as you finish the book. If you have, please don’t spoil for me (and others) by answering
c. Let me know if you have any fun ideas for games to do during this read-along.

More details and information on May 14th, as we get started.
Happy Reading!

  1. I’m a few chapters away from finishing A Perfect Blood then I’m taking a break to read some ARCs and Stomp vs Romp authors. So I’ll be able to join in for the last two books.

  2. Northwoman says:

Thanks Jennifer! I hope people will think it is fun

  3. Yes!
I wanted to reread The Hollows since I heard that final book is coming out in September.
I was a big fan of this series and after fifth book, I decided to leave it on the side, but I still kept buying them religiously, hoping I’ll catch up with books. Basically, all I needed is a little push and this post couldn’t be timed better.
Looking forward to May 14th! 🙂

  4. Holy crap! I’ve read a series you haven’t?!?! I can’t believe it! I love this series! I know you really like growth in a character, so you’ll love how Rachel grows and matures. Her friends are fabulous, the plots don’t get old, and when there’s sex, it’s steamy. 🙂 I will say there is a point where I almost stopped reading because somebody important leaves and it left me pretty devastated. I know how you almost stopped Chloe Neill’s series because of something similar, but continuing on was well worth it! That was one of the few times I wrote to an author about a book/plotline (on Facebook, of course!), and Kim Harrison responded!

I’m not sure I’ll do the read along, because I’m re-reading another set of books before the third in trilogy comes out this summer, and I feel pretty caught-up on Rachel and the Hollows world, but I’ll definitely be here to comment! I think you’ll really enjoy the series! 🙂

  5. Northwoman says:

Thanks Lizzie Dee! Glad to have you with us.

You can still play the games and contribute quotes. (Just don’t answer the questions since you have read ahead.)

  6. Northwoman says:

For those of you who don’t know this. This is Anne.

I am Northwoman here and on And I am Northwomn on Twitter.

  7. I. Am. So. There.

I have read the books, and I LOVE them. I would totally be up for doing a guest review of one of the books. SO excited!

  8. Northwoman says:

I hoped I could count on you. So glad to have you with us! Just don’t spoil us in advance, since some of us are “virgins.” LOL

Let me know which book you would do a guest review. Either comment here or email me at (no a)

  9. Sounds like a total blast! I’ll have to see if I have time to do it. One of my fav urban fantasy series ever!

  10. Ihhh, exactly what I was looking for! And purrfect timing too! Thanks Tabitha @ Not Yet Read for pointing me in the right direction, I’m so doing this xD

  11. Northwoman says:

    Lege –
Somehow I missed you earlier. I’m excited to have you join in with us. We all need a push sometimes. For me, it’s so hard to decide between so many good and interesting books. Some I read because they are next to review, or because they are due at the library or because I can’t stop myself because I’m so excited.

Livia – I’m happy Tabitha passed along the news. You can let any fellow series lovers to join us too.

peace officers. As for the spoon, use it as the utensil to eat
your food from, while the fork will assist the food onto
your spoon. As you can see in the picture when it is
not in use it can be turned to the side and there is nothing sticking out from under the cabinet to interfere with space.
