My Life’s Quirks – Re-Discovering Weird Al Yankovic

Let me tell you a little story…

I was perusing Facebook a couple of weeks ago and noticed that Darynda Jones shared a new video by none other than Weird Al Yankovic.  I used to find him quite funny.  Since I did, and also since Darynda is the one who shared, and I typically enjoy what she has to say on Facebook, I clicked to listen.

The video she shared was Word Crimes, a spin on Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke.  I can see why Darynda shared this – it’s hilarious and right up an author’s alley.  In case you have not seen it, you absolutely must.  Here it is:

After watching this video, I started glancing at what else he has been up to since I listened to him last.  That is how I came across this:

So funny, right!?  I never really had the crazy email-a-thon friends but some are quite adamant about clogging up my Facebook homepage with loads of useless crap.

Finally, I came across this lovely.  Oh.  My.  Goodness.  It is amazing.  I think many of you out there will be able to relate to it.  In fact, this hit so close to home, I cried laughing so hard while watching it…over and over and over…and showing it to Jason…then watching it again while still cry-laughing.

So that’s the story of what I did one evening a couple of weeks ago.  I got reacquainted with an entertainer who, apparently, can still make me laugh.  A lot.

Re-discovering Weird Al Yankovic.  Just another one of my life’s quirks.

  1. I also loved the new Foil and Mission Statement too. I forgot how great Weird Al was. He is a genius, literally.
