Question – What If You Could Only Pick One?

Book boyfriends.  We all have them.  Some list them on their blogs, others just list them in their minds.  But I know we all think about them often.  While we are reading their books, we imagine that the heroine is actually us.  That her face is our face, that the hero’s hands are on our butt, our hips, sliding down our stomach…well, you get the idea.  And even when we are done reading their book, they still manage to creep into our thoughts while we’re doing the most mundane things like dishes or vacuuming or making love to our husbands or boyfriends…um, yeah.

I think the average list of book boyfriends holds 17 names.  Some have more and some have less.  And most of us have the same names on our lists as everyone else (imagine the cat fight that would occur if these guys were real and all of their ‘girlfriends’ would be in the same room)

So my question this week…well, it’s a really tough one.  What if you could only pick one book boyfriend?  Who would you choose?

Me?  While I like to fantasize about a paranormal guy, I don’t know if I would actually want one as my full-time, one and only boyfriend.  As a fling?  Hell yes!  But I think I would go with Jack from “Smooth Talking Stranger”.  Tall, dark, rich and handsome.  Smart, compassionate and funny.  *sigh*  He’s yummy.  Now if my question were Who would I pick if it were for a one night stand fling, I don’t think I would be able to answer that one.  Between Curran and Bones and Barron and Adam and Ethan…Oye!  And then I would have to think about whether or not I would be open to spending the kind of night that Damon or Vishous would offer… *sigh* Just one?  Screw that!  (no pun intended) 😉

  1. Hmmmmm….currently (and this changes daily) I would pick Barrons. RAWR!!!!

  2. First of all, your post makes me think of the movie Highlander – “There can be only one!” LOL.

I honestly don’t think I can pick. As I look at my list, I just can’t decide 🙂

  3. Only 1? Are you sure? *sigh* Fine. Daemon from the Black Jewels trilogy. Yummmm.

  4. Mandi – I know what you mean about it changing every day. And nice choice with Barrons. 🙂

Patti – It does tend to give you a bit of a headache trying to pick only one doesn’t it? 😉

Tori – I don’t know Daemon. Must check him out!!!

  5. Ok, I’ve thought long and hard about this and since you’re allowing me two boyfriends, my choices are Bones and Barrons. Curran is a shockingly close 3rd runner up. I think the wait for Barrons in Jan. and Bones in Feb. just might be enough to kill me:)

  6. I love that you always come at us with the hard hitting questions Julie. 😉

Hmm…I’m going with Clayton ‘Clay’ Danvers from Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. Books 1, 2, 6 and 10 to be more specific. He’s a pack enforcer who’s also an anthropolgy professor. Yeah, I’m all over that. =)

  7. Jenny – Bones, Barrons and Curran are my top three also but I would have no idea in which order to place them!

Jen – I don’t know Clayton! How do I not know about some of these book boyfriends?!

  8. One?? Oh you’ve got a cruel streak in you!
    One??… umm… one huh?
While Barrons and Bones both light my fire, they are like hundreds of years old and I’m already feeling over the hill, I’ll go with contemporary normal sexy human Jack Preston from “Dangerous Lover” by Lisa Marie Rice. Jack captured my heart long ago and still holds a special place there.

  9. OK, I have to ask, who are Adam and Ethan? Am I missing out on important book boyfriends?

  10. Elizabeth – LOL to they are old! And you have peaked my interest with yet another book boyfriend I don’t know. Jack Preston…must look him up! 🙂

Manda – YES! Adam is from Paticia Briggs’ Mercedes Thompson series and Ethan is from Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series. Both are Yummy-yum-yum. 😉

  11. Oh Julie if you haven’t discovered the uber sexy men of Lisa Marie Rice you MUST grab some of her books ASAP!

  12. Awwww! And here I thought Bones was a cute nickname you had for me in the bedroom! *cries*

  13. Um…It is hun. A nickname for you. That’s totally what it is! *avoids eye contact*

  14. Thanks, Julie! I’ve read Briggs’ Alpha and Omega series, but not Mercedes Thompson. I’m going to have to check out that series and the Chicagoland Vampires, too.

  15. Mine would be Quinn Rafferty from Shiloh Walker’s Broken. Yummy!

  16. Christy – And another one! I really have to pay more attention to people’s boyfriend lists. I am apparently missing some yummy men! 😉
