Question – What Is Your Favorite Kid’s Book?

Kids love books.  Pop up books, touch and feel books or just plain ol’ story books, they love them.  And that is a wonderful thing.  Being introduced to books when they are just little helps kids want to learn to read so they can read their favorite tales all on their own.  And these stories…they will remember them always.

I remember when I was little how much I loved my Pat the Bunny book.  I used to think that the flowers smelled wonderful (now, they choke me with their scent lol).  I loved ‘putting the ring on’ and I loved feeling daddy’s scratchy beard.  And even though I was very young when I played with that book, I still remember it vividly.

When I was in junior high school, my father opened up a Children’s book store.  That’s when I was introduced to Robert Munsch.  I loved his stories immediately. And even though I was a little older, I really enjoyed his book Love You Forever.  And now that I have children of my own, I love it even more.  It’s become my auto-gift to friends who are expecting.  I cannot read this book without crying.  I mean snot nose crying.

Since having kids, I’ve discovered other books that are wonderful.  Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs by Sandra Boynton and Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney are favorites around here.  But my all time favorite children’s book is still Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.  I’ve included a video of the author telling the story.  It’s not quite the same as if you were to read it yourself, but it tells the story.  And it too, made me cry.

All this leads me to my question this week.

What is your favorite kid’s book?  Either yours when you were young or a kid’s book you like now.
