My Life’s Quirks – The First Edition of the Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks Awards!

I have read many great books in 2010.  Sometimes after I’ve finished a book, I think back on it and words just can’t express what I’m feeling.  The odd time I want to give out awards to these books because they have left me riveted and emotional.  Then I thought…why don’t I do just that!  So I am here to announce and present —

The First Edition of the Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks Awards!

The first award that I am going to present is “The Book That Made Me Jump Up and Down and Shout “FINALLY!” award.

And the winner is…

Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews.  (If you read this series, then you know what I’m talking about ;))

The next award is the “Everytime I Hear This Nickname or Term of Endearment I Want To *sigh* and *swoon* award.

And the winner is…

“Chessiebomb” from Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series.

Next up, the award for “The Book that Ended a Series Perfectly” award.

And the winner is

Sin Undone, the fifth and final book in Larissa Ione’s Demonica series.

Now it’s time for “The Series That Gives Me The Warm and Fuzzies When I read It” award.

And the winner is…

The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts.  (The fourth and final book to the series is due out November 2nd 2010)

Next, the award for “The Book That Had Me Running to Take a Cold Shower Many Times” award.

And the winner is

Sweet Temptation by Maya Banks

Now, this next award has three winners.  It’s the “It’s About Freakin’ Time I Picked This Series Up and Read It” award.

And the winners are

The Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, The Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill and The Mercedes Thompson series by Patricia Briggs.

Up next is the award for “The Book That Made Me Bang My Head Against The Wall” award.

And the winner is

Double Cross by Carolyn Crane

And finally, the award for “Worst Cliff-Hanger Ever” award.

And the winner is

Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning.  Okay, I didn’t read this one this year, but it’s still the meanest and cruellest cliff-hanger in the history of all cliff-hangers!

So there you go.  The first edition of the Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks Awards.  Just another one of my life’s quirks.

  1. Lol! This was great! Looking forward to the next one!

Blah I didn’t enjoy Sweet Temptation all that much :/

But yey! to Nora Roberts, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Karen Marie Moning, although hopefully I won’t have to wait as long as you with the cliff hanger stuff as I plan to read the second book this month and then third book in November, the fourth in December and finally the last book in Jan when its released! 😀

This really makes me want/need to read Sin Undone now! Grumble grumble, have to read The Odyssey first 🙁

  2. Double Cross could take that last award too!! LOL

Excellent picks…they make me want to pick up those books again.

Plus – I haven’t read the Nora Roberts or Maya Banks!!

  3. Ally – I’m starting to think that I like Maya Banks more than you…lol And yes, you must read Sin Undone as soon as your school reading is out of the way. 🙂

Mandi – You’re right, thinking about these books makes me want to read them again. 🙂

  4. Don’t even get me started on the Dreamfever cliffhanger, I about died. Love all your choices, so glad you finally picked up the Chicagoland Vampires series, love Ethan and Merit! And Chessiebomb *sigh*:)

  5. I feel like I should be reading this post in a fancy dress. 😉

With the exception of the Mercy Thompson series, I’ll need to add all of these to my wishlist or move them up on the TBR pile.

  6. Jenny – I really like Ethan and Merit!

Jen – Fancy dress eh? Would it be a sparkly dress?! 😉

  7. Love it! 🙂

I haven’t read the Bride Quartet (or any Nora Roberts) yet but I have the first book and am really looking forward to it!

I was also late on the Mercedes Thompson bandwagon but am I ever glad I hopped on! Fantastic series and author!!

  8. Yeah, that cliffhanger was a doozie. 🙂 Love your other picks as well.

  9. Vanessa – The Bride Quartet books are sweet character stories. Hope you’ll like them. 🙂

    FV – Meanest. Ever.

  10. Nancy Bristow says:

Loved this post:) I just happened to have finished Sin Undone (Larissa Ione) the other day and thought it totally rocked.

I’ve read many of the authors you’ve listed but not all and am a fan of some but not all.

Being left to hang at the end of a book doesn’t work for me so I avoid authors that do that. In other words, I’m not truly an urban fantasy fan.

It’s good that there are enough authors for every reader taste:) I look forward to the next awards.

  11. Nancy – I always marvel and the quantity of books in a bookstore. We can’t all love the same books, and that proves it. 🙂
