Question – Who Are Some Authors I Should Check Out In 2011?

With 1,368,964 authors out there with published works, it’s impossible to read them all.  I try to do my best at finding the names of the authors that my friends love.  I have read about these authors on book blogs and on Goodreads and jotted down their works in my book planner.  I’ve really tried to catch the names of all the must read authors out there – the ones that would make my life more complete if I were to pick up one of their books.  But I still sometimes feel like I’m missing someone.  An author that many of you LOVE but that has yet to cross my radar.

You’ve seen who I plan to read for the first time in 2011 in my New Year’s Resolution – Book Edition post, and you can check out my read list over at Goodreads (here)…  Now please help me out my telling me:

Are there authors that I’m missing out on?  Who are some authors I should check out in 2011?  Or do I have them all?

(Just remember that I need romance in the stories that I read and I lean towards paranormal and contemporary romance books and urban fantasy books).

  1. Robyn Carr – Virgin River Series – Contemporary Romance
    Robin D Owens – Celta’s Heartmate’s Series – Paranormal Romance
Sherrilyn Kenyon – The League Series – Sci-Fi/Paranormal Romance? But its sooooo good!
Cheryl Brooks – The Cat Star Chronicles – Erotic/Sci-Fi/ Paranormal Romance?
Susan Mallery – Heartbreakers Series – Contemporary Romance
Sherrilyn Kenyon writing as Kinley MacGregor – Lords of Avalon Series – Paranormal
Christine Feehan – Leopard People series – Paranormal Romance
Christine Feehan – Ghostwalkers Series – Paranormal Romance

And everything and anything written by Nora Roberts!

I hope you find at least one of these series or authors interesting!

  2. Hey Julie,
Your blog name rocks! I scrolled down your 2010 list and saw a missing author. Yeah, missing. Girl, you have to get a hold of Nancy Gideon. Her Moonlight series is to die for. Max was my summer fling. The series has three books check out some of my reviews.
I’ll be keeping my eye on you.
    See ya,

  3. I haven’t checked your list – but have you read Patricia Briggs? Jeaniene Frost? Nalini Singh? Ann Aguirre? Ilona Andrews? Sean Kennedy? Josh Lanyon’s Adrien English series? Tessa Dare? Courtney Milan? Kate Noble? Jill Shalvis? Victoria Dahl?

    Just a few ;p

  4. My new all time favorite paranormal romance is “Danann Frost Falls From Grace” by Joanne Valiukas. 🙂

  5. Ally – I should have known that you would have many suggestions for me! lol I should try Robyn Carr. I know she’s a favorite of many. 🙂

Dana – I’ve looked at Nancy Gideon’s books many times but never picked them up. Maybe I should! lol

Mandi – In my quest to find a historical romance I really like, I plan to try Kate Noble. I know she’s a favorite of yours. 🙂

Theresa – I’ve not heard of that one. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!

  6. You should give Kim Harrison and Rachel Caine a try. =)

  7. Jen – I plan on trying Kim Harrison. I should try Rachel Craine too. 🙂

  8. I would really suggest Delilah Marvelle. This is the author for the historial romance series I just started and I absolutely love the first book (I’m almost done with, review to come Friday). It is sexy, the Characters are well developed, the issue the main hero has is one I never would have thought an author would ever bring up so it makes for an amazing story line, and the love scenes…wow…they make you burn they are so sexy!

  9. Deanna – I’ll write her down for sure. 🙂

  10. Some that aren’t already mentioned here:

The Jane True series by Nicole Peeler is new to me and super fun

Have you read Richelle Mead? Her “succubus” series is good but she has a few others that I hear are really good too… and these are Adult

I also think you’d LOVE Vicki Pettersson. This still remains one of my ALL TIME favorites!!

But of course as I come across more you’re sure to hear about it from me LOL… and I’m sure I’m going to close this and think of 2 more 😛

  11. Oh definately Kim Harrisons Hollows series and Rachel Caines Weather Warden Series.

Karen Chance’s Dorina Basarab series is kickass

Allyson James Stormwalker is also a great read 🙂

BTW If you are going to read Jane Austen I’d choose Emma instead of Pride and Prejudice 🙂
