My Mostest Favoritest Reads of 2010

While looking back on all of the 135 books I’ve read so far this year, I was thinking one thing:  How the hell am I supposed to compile a favorites of 2010 list from these books?!  You see, since I’m still quite new at this ‘reading as a hobby’ thing, I have been picking up books that have been out for a while.  And usually annual Favorites lists consist of books released the year that the list is written.  But if I only focused on books that hit shelves in 2010, I would feel as though I’m not being truly honest with everyone because quite a few of my mostest favorite reads of the year would not be on my list.  So, after much thought, I have decided to break my list in two parts.  Here’s what my year looked like:

These are my top 11 books among the books with a publication date of 2010:

Double Cross by Carolyn Crane
Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews
City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane
Mind Games by Carolyn Crane
Love Mine by JR Ward
Sin Undone by Larissa Ione
Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning
Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane
Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill
As Lie the Dead by Kelly Meding
Happy Ever After by Nora Roberts

These are my top ten favorite reads among books that were not published this year:

Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews – 2009
Sweet Persuasion by Maya Banks – 2009
Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh – 2009
Three Days to Dead  by Kelly Meding- 2009
Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs by Molly Harper- 2009
Vision in White by Nora Roberts- 2009
Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs – 2008
Catch a Mate by Gena Showalter- 2008
Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas- 2009
Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James– 2008

I have also come across a couple of series that are worth mentioning because although the individual books didn’t land on my list, the series as a whole is worth a mention.  They are:

Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk
Blades of the Rose series by Zoe Archer

I had some wonderful, super fantastic, extraordinary reading experiences this year.  I have read great stories, come across imaginative worlds, got to know some very memorable characters and discovered some superb auto-buy worthy authors…and I can’t wait to do it all again in 2011.  Looking forward to sharing my discoveries with you all in the New Year!

  1. Great list Julie! Thanks for sharing!!

  2. Greta list, I agree with some, and the rest, well gotta read those 😉

  3. verra nice list girlie!

  4. twimom227 – 🙂

blodeuedd – I swear ‘top of the year’ lists just make my tbr list longer! lol

Mandi – It’s very similar to many lists out there but what can we do?…these are kick ass books!

  5. Great list! I’ve got some of these authors on my TBR like Carolyn Crane and Stacia Kane – but that’s because I’m late to the party. Will it be ok if they make my top 10 in 2011? I wish like everyone else I had more time to read all the fabulous books and with 2011 just around the corner, the TBR is only going to get bigger!

  6. Great list Julie! Your & my reading tastes are soooo similar 😀

  7. Love the list Julie and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to only stick to the books released in that year since I have so much catching up to do.

Love the picture too! Haha, that’s great. 😀

  8. Great list Julie. So many of your favorites are mine as well and you even included my Damon! (Sweet Persuasion)Yum! I’m looking forward to starting Backstage Pass, Chloe Neill, Nalini Singh, Patricia Briggs and Iiona Andrews this year!

  9. Judi – Yes, with the amazing titles coming out in 2011 and the ones you’ve yet to read (Carolyn Crane and Stacia Kane rock!), you’re to-read list should hit about 1,248 by the end of 2011. LOL

    Jess – I know! lol

Deanna – I’m very proud of that picture! 🙂

Amy – Damon lives on my favorite characters list. He’s just so… *drool* And OMG you’ve yet to read Ilona Andrews! That series is one of my most favorites ever! I dream of Curran some nights…just don’t tell my hubs! 😉

  10. I like your lists! The only two I haven’t read on the books that came out this year were: As Lie the Dead by Kelly Meding & Happy Ever After by Nora Roberts. Must look into them now!

  11. Don’t tell hubs?? That explains the body pillow… le sigh. 🙁

  12. Colette – The Nora Roberts series is just a cute fun read. 🙂

Stanley – Damn, I forgot you read this sometimes…um, I mean *bats eyelashes innocently*
