Silly Stuff – Beware the Chocobo

My husband Jason plays an online video game called Final Fantasy XI. He’s been playing it off and on since it came out in 2002.  (At least I think it came out in 2002.  It may have been 2003. The point is he’s been playing it a really freakin’ long time!)  In the game, players can use a Chocobo as a means of transportation. These are big yet cute birds. Here’s an in-game photo:

You also have to option of hatching one and raising it yourself.  This is what a baby chocobo looks like in-game:

All together now “Awww…”

My daughter loves to watch Jason play his game.  Now, I’m still not sure how I feel about her watching him bash things with swords and axes, but at least there is no blood, so I suppose it’s okay.  One of my daughter’s favorite parts is when Jason’s character rides the Chocobo.  She just beams over that!

One day, Jason noticed that someone on eBay was selling a baby Chocobo stuffed doll and knew it was something our girl would love to have.  So he ordered it.  When we opened the parcel, this was in it:

SO CUTE!!!  (By the way, the Chocobo is dressed as a White Mage – one of the jobs you can possess in the game.)  My daughter ADORES this thing and takes it with her everywhere!  I was really happy that my husband ordered it for my daughter…until I saw this little card:

(I know, it’s blurry…but not as blurry as the next one…)
The little card was actually a very specific warning label…

Here is what the warning stated:

  • Handle with care and avoid damaging this product in any way.
  • Keep away from fire.  Fail to do so may cause product deformation or fire.
  • Discolouration will occur if product is submitted to licking or biting.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, store in a cool dry place.
  • Contains small parts.  Be careful to avoid the swallowing of them.
  • DO NOT let children under the recommended age play with this product.
  • For safety, do not use if broken or damaged.
  • Keep wrapping material (plastic bag) away from children to avoid risk or accidents.
  • Do not wash.

After reading all of this, I wondered only one thing:  What the hell is this think made of?!?!  LMAO!

  1. Aw-w-w cute….and yes a bit scary.

  2. LOL. That thing is adorable!!! 😀 But yes, I must say I wonder what the heck the think is made out of…at least your daughter loves it and I’m glad that your husband can still find so much entertainment in one game after all these years!

  3. Its like one of those labels that say “Do not use hair dryer while in bath” LOL

    It is cute.

  4. Dot – A little bit scary. Very good. I like it. 🙂

Deanna – I can’t believe he still plays it! But he really is very good at it. lol

    Michelle – Exactly! LOL

  5. I freaking LOVE Chocobos! I’ve played the Final Fantasy console games since the very first one. That is one hell of a cute toy, as long as she doesn’t lick it. :Þ

  6. LOL, this is hilarious.
I bought the exact same plushie for myself about six months ago (I’m an avid Final Fantasy fan and I love chocobos =] ) and I’m absolutely delighted with it.
I didn’t get any warning with it though! I’m staring at him now like he’s a time bomb =L
I also wouldn’t worry about your daughter watching it, my 4 year old brother adores watching me playing FF games, particularly XIII, and it’s done him no harm!

  7. One of the important things to know before you visit Uzbekistan is you will be subject to security checkpoints just about everywhere you go. Your bag will go through a scanner and you will walk through a metal detector. It is helpful to ensure you are packed efficiently without a lot of stuff in your pockets, metal in your bags, or anything that could be used as a weapon. You ll be screened entering hotels, train stations, shopping centers, and metro stations. The first time you are subject to so much screening it is a little weird, but you ll get used to it.
